Оne of the important aspects of the current Ukraine’s judicial policy is to reform the system of preventing and combating criminal corruption offenses committed by officials, authorized to perform state or local government functions, and which are a threat to society and national security of Ukraine. Success in this process is a precondition for increase in citizens’ trust in the government, growth of the economic potential of the state, improvement of welfare of the population.
The key to successful completion of the task of minimizing corruption is to ensure the adequate level of knowledge of the anti-corruption laws among state and local government officials and in society as a whole. Such achievement would contribute to effective preventive anti-corruption mechanisms, and also would increase the level of legal awareness of citizens, reducing the risk of violation of their fundamental rights and freedoms in everyday life, and contributes to public intolerance of corruption.
NGO “European Dialogue” in the framework of the project “Prevention of corruption in the activities of public authorities”, which is supported by the U.S. Embassy – Democracy Small Grants Program, has taken a range of actions to improve the professional competence of state and local government officials by rising awareness of the anti-corruption laws and by cooperating with other NGOs in this direction.
As a result of discussions and workshops held in the framework of this Project we have developed this handbook:
